What is Laughter Yoga

It feels great to laugh!

It's relaxing, connecting and memorable.

We don't need a shared sense of humour - just the sounds of laughter and a little suggested silliness!

A few helpful insights:

•Breathing fully in a guffaw is what makes it yogic, not conventional poses.

•Our biology doesn't differentiate between real and pretend, so if you make laughter sounds with gumption, it's as good as a genuine laugh (and often leads to it!).

•Studies equated ten minutes of belly laughter with ten minutes on a rowing machine. I know which I prefer, ha! Grab some water to stay hydrated and marvel at the potential stomach-toning, endorphin-boosting, sleep-enhancing properties of a good laugh.

•Blood pressure during laughter rises briefly, then drops considerably after a session.

•If you like scientific studies, there is a lot of corroborating research into the health benefits of laughter, crammed into my fiendish wordsearch which you can request.

•Whether you favour facts or intuition, laughter feels awesome and I'm excited to share it with you!

How can you join in

•Wellness/team building days. I have helped cheer up conferences in the past. Let's bring some zing to these events!

•One of my aspirations is to facilitate laughter at a wedding - either at the start of a reception to relax and connect the guests, or perhaps during wedding photos for some brilliant smiles and silliness. Will that be your celebration? I like inclusivity and believe that 'love is love' - what's important to me is the vibe.
